Terms of Service

Last updated 17 September 2026

Manga Sonix is a reading tool. You bring the comic; it reads it aloud. These terms set out what that means for both of us.

1. Agreement

By using Manga Sonix you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. The service is operated by The MangaSonix Team in India.

2. What the service is

Manga Sonix converts comic pages into spoken narration. It detects panels, reads the text with optical character recognition, and generates audio with synthetic voices.

Manga Sonix is not a publisher, a library, a store or a catalogue of comics. It ships with no content. There is no browse list, no recommendations and no default source. Nothing is processed unless you enter a source yourself.

3. Your sources are your responsibility

This is the important part. Each time you ask us to process a page, you confirm that:

  • you are the author or rights holder of the work; or
  • you hold a licence from the rights holder that covers adaptation; or
  • you have the rights holder's documented permission; or
  • the work is in the public domain where you are.

You must select which of these applies before a page is processed, and we keep a record of that selection. Submitting a source you have no right to submit is a breach of these terms.

Narrating a comic creates a new work derived from someone's writing and art. If you do not hold rights in the original, you generally cannot make or distribute that derivative. Please take this clause seriously rather than clicking past it.

4. Things you must not do

  • Submit material you have no right to submit.
  • Redistribute, publish, broadcast or sell the narration audio the service generates, unless you hold the rights in the underlying work.
  • Circumvent paywalls, access controls or technical protection measures.
  • Use the service to build a competing catalogue of narrated comics.
  • Attempt to overwhelm, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or use it through automated clients.
  • Share your account, or use it on behalf of someone whose access we have ended.

5. We can refuse sources

We may refuse to process any source, and may block a source entirely — including in response to a copyright notice, or on our own initiative. Blocked sources are refused for every user. We are not obliged to explain a particular refusal, though we usually will.

6. Fair use of a shared service

Processing a page costs us real money in machine time. We may set limits on how much any one account can process in a period, and may change those limits. We will not cut you off mid-chapter without telling you why.

7. Intellectual property

The app, the site, the name Manga Sonix and its designs belong to us. These terms give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the service, and nothing more.

We claim no rights in the works you submit. They remain whoever's they were. We also claim no ownership of narration generated from a work you own.

8. No warranty

The service is provided as it is. Optical character recognition misreads text, synthetic voices mispronounce names, translations lose nuance, and sources go offline. We do not promise the service will be accurate, available, or fit for any particular purpose, and we may change or discontinue it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data or profits. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months or US$50.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud.

10. Your responsibility to us

If a third party brings a claim against us because of material you submitted, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of dealing with it. This is the direct consequence of section 3.

11. Ending access

You may stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time — see the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. An account that is the subject of 3 substantiated copyright notices will be closed, as set out in our Copyright Policy.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes fall to the courts there. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove rights you have under your own local law.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
