Copyright Policy

Last updated 17 September 2026

We respect the rights of authors, artists and publishers. If material you own is being processed through Manga Sonix without your permission, this page tells you how to reach us and what we will do.

1. About this service

Manga Sonix is a reading-assistance tool. It converts comic pages that the user supplies into spoken narration using optical character recognition and text-to-speech.

Manga Sonix does not publish, host, sell, index, recommend or provide a catalogue of comics. It ships with no library and no default source. Every page processed is one a user pointed the app at, and the service requires the user to declare a basis in rights for each request before it will process anything.

2. Where to send a notice

Notices of claimed copyright infringement should be sent to:

The MangaSonix Team
Email: support@mangasonix.com

We publish an email contact rather than a postal address. Because we do not claim safe harbour under § 512(c) (see below), there is no designated agent filing that would require one, and this inbox is monitored — a notice sent here reaches us and is acted on.

We do not claim safe harbour under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c). That provision covers services that passively store material at the direction of users, and this service does something different. We publish this contact and act on notices because it is the right way to deal with rights holders, not because it gives us an immunity we are entitled to.

3. What to include

So that we can act without coming back to you, please include:

  1. Your signature, physical or electronic, as the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them.
  2. Identification of the work you say has been infringed — or a representative list, if there are several.
  3. Identification of the material concerned, with enough detail for us to locate it. For Manga Sonix that means the source URL, and the account or request if you know it.
  4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information is accurate and that — under penalty of perjury — you are the owner or are authorised to act for them.

Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages, including costs and legal fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

4. What we do when we receive one

Manga Sonix stores no comic pages. What it holds is material derived from them — extracted text, panel data and generated narration audio — and that is what we remove. On receiving a complete notice we:

  • delete the cached extracted text and panel data for the identified source, or for the whole host if you identify one;
  • delete the narration audio generated from that material;
  • add the source to our blocked list, so the service refuses to fetch from it again for any user;
  • record the notice and what was removed, in a durable audit log;
  • notify the user concerned and give them the chance to counter-notify.

We aim to do this within 5 business days of receiving a complete notice.

5. Counter-notification

If you believe material was blocked by mistake or misidentification, send us a counter-notice using the contact above, including:

  1. your signature;
  2. identification of the material and where it appeared before it was blocked;
  3. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was blocked through mistake or misidentification;
  4. your name, address and telephone number, a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the district of your address — or, if your address is outside the United States, any district in which we may be found — and that you will accept service of process from whoever filed the original notice.

We may forward a valid counter-notice to the original complainant and restore access in 10 to 14 business days, unless they tell us they have filed a court action.

6. Repeat infringers

We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly submit material they have no right to submit. An account that is the subject of 3 substantiated notices will be closed.

7. Notices from outside the United States

Manga Sonix is operated from India. We also act on notices under section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and on requests from rights holders in other jurisdictions. Use the same contact details and include the same information.

8. Licensing

If you are a rights holder and would rather your catalogue were available here properly than blocked, we would genuinely like to hear from you. Same address.
